Parenting Out of Wholeness (POW)

Parenting out of Wholeness (POW) is a three-phase integrated approach to providing group counseling for mothers with children. POW utilizes a holistic and multi-systemic approach that is trauma informed and solution focused. The goal of the program goes beyond traditional parenting programs that are skills based. POW deems to stabilize the parent so that parent can effectively parent their child(ren). POW addresses unresolved trauma that could hinder healthy parent child interactions.

POW will assist caregivers with addressing parental trauma in order to meet the needs of their children. POW simulates a family environment and provides a sense of community that fosters healing. Within this type of environment, the target population is nurtured, educated and given an opportunity to heal from their own pain. Focus is on empowering the family unit by healing the parent. When the parent is healed, the parent becomes more receptive and attentive to the needs of the child.
